It's um dos planned investments most relevant of the Marina de Albufeira, but should only go ahead in time for the summer of 2018: a 400-metre walk over the sea, which will connect the Marina to Praia do Peneco. The work is valued at 4 million euros.
«We are working, together with the City Council, to create a promenade over the sea that will connect the Marina de Albufeira to Praia do Peneco. We are talking about a very short distance of 400 meters, but coming through the streets of Albufeira, it is very difficult to move between the center and the marina due to the rugged morphology. This tour will allow these people to circulate», explained João Amaral, Marina administrator, in an interview with Sul Informação.
This tour “will be unique in the country and we are working to make it happen. We have already offered the project to the Chamber and we are trying to find funding for its execution. It will be a way of getting people around and bringing the marina closer to the city», says João Amaral.
About timings of execution, the administrator says that “it doesn't depend only on us, the project has been done since 2010 and there is a lot of desire to execute it, but we didn't have the capacity and the Chamber didn't have it either. We are now resuming the project. There were opinions given in 2010 about the tour and we have already asked the APA to confirm whether the opinions are still valid or whether new ones need to be requested».
Therefore, «this year it will be very difficult to have the tour, it is very complicated, even though the work plan is for nine months. Our goal is to have the tour ready in the summer of 2018, I don't know if this is the objective of the Chamber, if it will have a chance, but we are putting pressure on it to be ready for the year», concluded João Amaral.
