The Loulé Criativo initiative was made known at an international event that took place last week in Esposende, Minho. The Algarve project was one of the guests to appear at the seminar « Creative Tourism as a builder of local development dynamics », which brought together Portuguese and foreign speakers.

According to the Câmara de Loulé, which promotes Loulé Criativo, the event «intended to awaken to Creative Tourism as a process that generates local dynamics, a sector that promotes the development of activities and mitigates seasonality». In the case of the initiative that took place in Esposende, the target audience was the student community and agents linked to tourism.

The Algarve municipality took advantage of the trip to Minho to present the strengths of Loulé Criativo, «the various initiatives developed throughout the year, the strategies and plans for the future, in an intervention that aroused awareness and curiosity on the part of the student audience, panel of speakers and professionals from the tourism and creative industries of the northern region».

Loulé representatives also had the opportunity to exchange experiences with other projects of the same nature, namely «Mari Angels, from the Municipality of Tossa del Mar, Girona, Catalonia, Aida Carvalho, from EsACT-IPB / Municipality of Mirandela and Sandra Touza, of the Ponelacaraalturismo, Galicia».

Caroline Couret, from Creative Tourism Network, who spoke about “Creative tourism, a lever for territorial development” and Elena Paschinger, from CreativElena, who presented her long experience as a follower of creative destinations around the world, were two of the experts who gave the your contribution.

"Creative Tourism is considered a new generation of tourism that implies the opportunity to diversify the tourist offer of a destination, including the possibility of opening up to quality tourism by optimizing existing material and immaterial resources, as well as infrastructure, equipment cultural heritage and monuments', concluded the Câmara de Loulé.
