The consolidation "of a cooperation strategy in the development of tourist plans, with a view to creating a brand" was one of the objectives of the I Tourism Forum of the Eurocity of Guadiana, which took place on 7 March, in Ayamonte.

Francisco Amaral, president of the Eurocity of Guadiana and of the Chamber of Castro Marim, underlined "the three cities, two countries" as "a single tourist destination".

The mayor also highlighted the need to allocate the next forum of this kind to youth “who have to feel and actively participate in the Eurocity of the Guadiana”.

During the Forum, the keys to intelligent and innovative tourist destinations, cross-border tourist experiences, both on the Portuguese-Spanish and on the Hispanic-French border were made known (thermal route in the Eurocity Chaves/Verim, smart tourist destinations in the Central Pyrenees) as well as other experiences closer to our region.

The event was attended by more than 50 tourist businessmen from the three councils of the Eurocity of Guadiana (Ayamonte, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António), as well as the mayor of the municipality of Ayamonte Alberto Fernández, who opened the hostilities, Roberto Pereira Grilo, president the Alentejo Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), and Francisco Serra, president of the Euroregion Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia and CCDR Algarve.

These were joined by representatives from the municipalities of Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim.
