Lamprey, muge, eels and other delicacies from the municipality of Mértola are the bets of the taverns present at the 15th edition of the Festival do Peixe do Rio, which will take place on the 1st and 2nd of April, in the riverside village of Pomarão, 20 kilometers from the headquarters of the county.
The organization is the responsibility of the Municipality of Mértola in collaboration with various entities, clubs and associations, which, these days, "reinforce and boost the commercial dynamics".
Focused on the products of the river, this is another edition of a festival that has been consolidated for a long time and that annually brings together friends from Mértola, the river, its people and its products.
To accompany the gastronomic proposals, the Mértola City Council presents a full program of activities for all ages, as well as music, especially traditional music, and dancing. But there will also be a fishing contest, fireworks, or a workshop with chef Leopoldo Calhau on “preserved river fish”.
