Students from 2nd to 4th grade of basic education at the Conservatory of Music of Olhão, of the Orquestra de Cordas, won 1st prize in the category “Agrupaciones Musicales” in the VII Sound Band Contest, held on March 25, in Isla Cristina (Spain ).

Directed by Professor José Miguel Gomes, students Alexandra Alves, Augusto Amaro, Cláudia Amaro, Carolina Ribeiro, Chantal Schade, Eduardo Guerreiro, Guilherme Amaro, Inês Ramos, João Cardoso, Maria Carolina Afonso, Maria Moura Varrecoso, Ricardo Martins and Teresa Godinho.

The students of the official course of specialized artistic education at the Conservatory of Olhão had as opponents other conservatories throughout southern Spain, such as Seville, Huelva, Cristobal de Morales, Val Verde, Trigueros and Isla Cristina.

This award is also the result of the «great work of Professor José Gomes, who is to be congratulated for his commitment and professionalism», says the Conservatory.

The institution also thanks “all those who accompanied us throughout this journey: teacher Catarina Cameira, teacher Ana Moura, teacher Anabela Silva, teacher Rui Gonçalves and especially all the guardians who supported us”.
