Tomorrow, March 21, between 9:30 am and 9:45 am, students, teachers and even employees of the Manuel Teixeira Gomes and Júdice Fialho School Groups, in Portimão, will stop their activities and, for 15 minutes, will read a book.

This is the Dia L(ê) initiative, promoted under the Annual Activity Plan of the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Grouping of Schools and the Reading Week.

Students, faculty and staff must bring a book of their choice for the occasion or request one from the library. They can even read a magazine or a newspaper. «What matters is that they read!», says Helena Tapadinhas, professor librarian at Manuel Teixeira Gomes.

At the end of the reading period, each class in this Group is invited to take a photograph or make a short film in mannequin Challenge (recording in static mode), «with all participants in reading poses, creatively occupying the space».

This photo/film must be sent, in the class, identifying the class, to [email protected].

Under the motto “what life has taught me” (thanks to a book, a movie, a story from my grandmother…), the class, following a sharing, will select a phrase from the books, or a thought associated with a life story, or a movie. The sentence must be sent, identifying the class, to the same email.

With all the material received, a film will be made.

«More than a reading project, L(ê) Day aims to promote lato sensu literacy, understood as the ability to understand the world. Therefore, it is proposed, as the final moment of the activity, to encourage the sharing of these bases that, in some way, motivate the group to read that book, to watch that movie, to carry out that trip, real or imaginary", he adds Helena Tapadinhas.
