The City Council of São Brás de Alportel allocated more than 320 thousand euros to support associations in the municipality, an amount higher than that invested in 2016.
Assistance to communities involves the attribution of monetary subsidies, but also logistical support, namely “complete free concession of municipal transport to associations”, starting in February, according to the municipality.
This last support, revealed the council, "intends to help communities in reducing their costs by carrying out activities and participating in the most diverse initiatives."
These measures are provided for in the Municipal Association Support Plan for 2017, which is reinforced by the fact that the Chamber recognizes “the meritorious work of the associations and their effort in the good management of their resources for the pursuit of the most diverse activities, in favor of cultural development , sporting and social community.
«Supporting the activity of local associations, as key partners in the social, cultural and sporting dynamism of the community, is a priority assumed by the local authority, convinced that the strong cultural, sporting and recreational dynamics, provided by the different associations, guarantees the progressive and sustained democratization of culture, fostering the creation of civic structures for the participation of citizens in public life», framed the São Brasense autarchy.
«The increase in the value attributed to local associations reflects a balanced municipal management that allows for the enhancement of the quality of life that the municipality offers, in which associations are fundamental partnerships», believes the Mayor of São Brás de Alportel Vítor Guerreiro.
