The occupancy rate in the Algarve, in December 2016, was 28%, according to data provided by the Associação da Hotelaria de Portugal. This figure did not change compared to 2015 data, but the average prices per occupied room in the Algarve, in the month of December, rose 15% compared to last year.

According to AHP, «both Algarve Centro and Barlavento recorded an increase of 18% and 16% in the average price, respectively». However, Barlavento had a 7% drop in the occupancy rate.

In the Eastern Algarve, which had an occupancy rate of 53%, the average price rose 5%.

Overall, at national level, the month of December was the best since 2007, when these data began to be registered in the Hotel Monitor tool, by AHP. According to the association, «the month of December 2016 registered increases in all indicators, reaching values ​​equal to or higher, in absolute terms, to those registered in December 2007».
