Academic tunas, jazz combos and comedians kick off the 19th edition of Março Jovem de Portimão, with the opening party scheduled for Praça da Alameda, on Friday, March 3, at 20:30.

Throughout the month, Portimão offers a diversified program full of unmissable proposals ranging from music to sports, including theatre, cinema, dance, street entertainment and conferences.

In the area of ​​music, the March Young Band Contest at Bar Marginália, in Portimão, at 22 pm, with the qualifiers taking place on the 00th, 4th and 11th and the grand final on the 18th, stands out.

In dance, the event “Dançar sem Parar” in the Gimnodesportivo pavilion stands out, on the 19th, at 16 pm, a show of creative, contemporary, traditional, lounge, jazz, modern, commercial and hip-hop dance.

For those who like theatre, the Amateur Theater Group from Clube de Instrução e Recreio Mexilhoeirense takes to its stage on the 10th, at 21 pm, to premiere its play “Na T'Escondas Q'É Já Te Vi”.

On the other hand, the Children's Theater of Portimão organizes on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th, between 15 pm and 00 pm, Theater Workshops for Parents and Children in the former primary school of Pedra Mourinha, with a participation cost of 17 euros (adult + child).

 

Featured exhibitions

During these days, there will be several exhibitions to visit. At Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, from the 3rd to the 31st, “Illustrations” by Alda Henrique will be on display, and from the 10th to the 17th, the 1st Art Contest of the Secondary Schools of the Algarve.

Other proposals are the photography exhibition “Geografias de Portimão”, available until the 31st, at the Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex, which brings together works by students from the Bemposta Group of Schools.

The Museum of Portimão, on the other hand, will have free entry from the 7th to the 14th of March, between 10:00 am and 18:00 pm, and will promote, from 10 to 24, the “Patrimonio Fora de Rota” initiative, with the aim of raising awareness. Portimonense heritage sites usually off tourist routes.

Note also for the Miss and Mister contests, which will be organized by the Secondary Schools Poeta António Aleixo (4th March) and Manuel Teixeira Gomes (18th), at 21 pm, at Portimão Arena.

 

Sport for all tastes

On the 12th, from 09:00 am and throughout the day, the Peddy Paper Fotográfico will take place, organized by Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes and Escola Profissional Gil Eanes, with prizes for the first classified.

From the 13th to the 17th, the Shokotan Karaté school in Portimão organizes free Karate classes with Sensei João Paula, at 18:30 pm.

On the 14th and 21st, the ISMAT Cup soccer tournament will take place at Campo Sintético at Manuel Teixeira Gomes School, and on the 19th, at 10:00 am, a solidarity bicycle tour will depart from the Fairs and Exhibitions Park, with the price of 5 euros from the registration to be donated to Caritas Parish Parish of Portimão.

During the month of March it will also be possible for young people, aged between 14 and 35, to practice different sports and enjoy free use, by appointment, of the sports complexes and municipal swimming pool of Portimão.

 

Contra-Tide – cinema and music go to the museum

As usual, cinema is also present at the Young March. On March 4th, the Portimão Museum welcomes Paulo Filipe Monteiro (director of the film “Zeus” about a period in the life of Manuel Teixeira Gomes) and José Alberto Quaresma (author of a biography on the former President of the XNUMXst Republic), for a conversation about the great figure from Portimo, after watching the film.

The following day, the film “Howl” by Eduardo Morais will be screened, which can also be seen on March 26th.

Finally, on the 25th, films by George Méliès and Júlio Bernardo will be set to music. For those in love with the world of sound, several workshops will take place at the museum on the weekend of March 11th and 12th.

The training aspect is also once again a strong focus on the Young March, which features a very diverse range of conferences and workshops, ranging from classes in Algarve tiborna and sweet candy, at Quinta Pedagógica de Portimão, to debates on democracy, youth and local authorities, in the Sports and Youth Division of Portimão, or a meeting Europa Jovem at Café Concerto at Teatro Municipal de Portimão.

Beta Talk returns to integrate the March Young program with a special edition on the 16th, which, this time, brings two entrepreneurs to share their experience: Bruno Fernandes, founder of the REPTO brand, and Fábio Duarte, founder of the “Dança Mais” Academy, in Portimão.

Participation is free, but registration is mandatory through a link to be disclosed, and the meeting will take place at ISMAT, at 19 pm.

ISMAT also adheres to the March Youth spirit and promotes open classes for people over 17, ranging from clarification on legal professions and strategic management of modern companies, to a session on Mindfulness and well-being.

The March Young 2017 will close in great style on April 1st, at Portimão Arena, with the XVII Enportunas – Meeting of Academic Tunas, which, as usual, brings together the musical irreverence of the Algarve academic tunas with a DJ, for a very lively show.

March Young is an initiative organized by the Municipality of Portimão, which involves thousands of young people and has the commitment of around fifty entities, including schools, clubs, associations and companies.
