Hospital Lusíadas Albufeira has just acquired a new CT (Computerized Axial Tomography) of 80 sections. The new equipment reduces radiation by up to 75%, improves image quality and increases the accuracy of exams.

Nuno Lourenço, general director of the Lusíadas Units in the Algarve, explains that “it is a more advanced device, with less acquisition time for exams, less radiation and, consequently, safer for patients. The new device reinforces the Lusíadas group's commitment to continuous improvement in the provision of healthcare to the Algarve population”.

“At a time when data from the regional cancer registry are known that show that the number of cancer cases has increased in the Algarve region, this bet by the group aims to combat these numbers and help to diagnose earlier so that patients have access to treatment adequate timely”, he concludes.

The new CAT equipment is available for scheduled exams and also for emergency situations, 24 hours a day. In addition to the usual exams, the new device allows cardiac and coronary Angio CT, Uro CT, CT Enterography, CT Colonography and Dental Scan to be performed.

The performance of these exams is also extended to the clients of Hospital Lusíadas Faro and the Lusíadas Forum Algarve Clinic. The Lusíadas Saúde group has agreements with the largest national and international insurance companies and health subsystems.
