During the anniversary celebrations, «which are also a tribute to the accordion and accordion players from the Algarve, more than 600 people gathered and various official entities were present, including the Regional Director of Culture, Alexandra Gonçalves», says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

The 5th Anniversary of Mito Algarvio was marked, according to the municipality, “by the performances of prestigious and awarded accordionists, such as Gianluca Pica (Italy
), Iurie Chiforisin (Moldova), João Filipe Guerreiro (Vice World Champion), Duo Accordions in Tuning, Lúcia Barracosa, Maria Adélia Botelho, José Gabriel, Sónia Horta, Hugo Madeira, Silvino Campos, Sérgio Conceição, João Sabóia and Pedro Constâncio ».

Mito Algarvio, based in the former primary school of Barrocal, in Altura, «has been working towards asserting Castro Marim as the capital of accordion in the Algarve», adds the City Council.

The municipality also says that "it has supported and stimulated the work of the Mito Algarvio Association, which enriches the municipality's heritage, preserving and promoting the history of the accordion and, at the same time, working on its contemporaneity."
