An inspection of fishing vessels between the beach at Manta Rota and Barra do Lacém, by the Maritime Police of Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, seized, on 16 January, «about 230 kilos of octopus», 'of which about 120 were undersized octopus', which was donated to charities.

“The fish with the size and weight allowed by law was sent to the Santa Luzia fish market, in Tavira,” says the Maritime Police.

In this action, three Portuguese fishing vessels, manned by Spanish citizens, were also seized. This is because they committed “several infractions” such as “illegal gear, undersized fish and lack of safety equipment”.
