The 40th International Cross of Amendoeiras em Flor, alongside which the 54th Cup of European Champion Clubs of Corta Mato will also be disputed, takes place on February 5th and will take «more than 500 athletes from 21 countries» to Açoteias track, in Albufeira.
In total, there will be 64 teams, distributed among 19 male seniors, 18 female seniors, 14 male juniors and 13 female juniors.
The "strong dish" of this event will be the dispute of the European Champion Clubs' Cup, which will start at 10:30 am, in female juniors, with a total of 3800 meters, followed by the men's, at 11:10 am, which will run 6100 meters.
The seniors, in the female category, will run, from 11:55, a total of 6100 meters, while the men's race, scheduled for 12:40, will have 9800 meters.
Before these races, there will be the 15th Corta Mato das Areias de São João, which starts at 9:00 am, with the Benjamins A and B category, which will run 400 meters. After 10 minutes, it will be the children's category that will occupy the track for a test of 1000 meters, followed by the beginners' competition, at 9:20 am, with a total of 1900 meters.
Finally, the Corta Mato Regional School Sport will also take place on February 5th and will bring together «close to 3000 participants representing 80% of the Algarve's schools», according to the Municipality of Albufeira. This race, in females, takes place at 9:30 am, in a total of 2900 meters, and in males at 9:45 am, in a total of 3800 meters.
