Three young people between 16 and 29 years old, who were stealing oranges in the Santa Rita area, in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, were arrested yesterday, the 28th, by soldiers from the GNR Territorial Post in that municipality.
The trio was detected when they were in an orange orchard, around 10:30 am, during a policing action directed at agricultural holdings.
The men still managed to flee the scene, but ended up being caught in Aldeia Nova, when the GNR intercepted the van in which they were following, having seized their vehicle and the 200 kilos of oranges they had already stolen.
The detainees will be present tomorrow at the Court of Vila Real de Santo António.
