Architects Luís Matos and Armando Guerreiro are the Algarve proponents of the assembly of delegates from List A, candidate for the National Bodies of the Order of Architects, headed by architect José Manuel Pedreirinho.

Luís Matos works in the civil service at the Municipality of Monchique and has been directing the association Teia D'Impulsos for several years. Armando Guerreiro works in the private sector in the Eastern Algarve.

They accepted the challenge because they are part of a hard-working team and at the service of the class, which has already demonstrated its capabilities, such as the new installations in the Northern section of the Ordem dos Arquitetos, executed in the 2014-2016 triennium.

Elections for the 2017-2019 triennium are scheduled for the next 20th of January.

The List A program:

We have a course for the Order.
An Order of Architects that is more open, more inclusive, more social, more dialogic and more attentive to the concerns of architects and architecture. A more diverse Order and closer to its members.
We apply because we want a cohesive, dynamic and affirmative Order, capable of transforming alienation into participation. We want a house of all architects. We want an Order for everyone.
We present a Joint Candidacy to all the governing bodies: a Team guided by a concrete program of actions and focused on a plural vision for the Order:
ONE COURSE, ONE ORDER.

Only in this way is it possible to bring together the necessary efforts to ensure conditions for ONE global change, following a course of implementation of measures with a real impact on the lives of architects.
We want to expand and enrich a work that has already started. We intend to change habits and end the closed circuits that have characterized a certain vision of the Order.
We want to start a new cycle where the Order is the home of all architects in the diversity of its members.
We aim to build an Order at the service of ARCHITECTS and SOCIETY.
This objective will be achieved in accordance with the following programmatic and operational principles, which will enable the transformation of our Order:

A. THE ARCHITECTS
Inclusion and Solidarity. Proximity and Diversity.
We want to create and expand mechanisms that increase member participation and cohesion, that support and welcome all Architects, regardless of where and how they practice their profession. We aim for a sustained and transversal policy of support for the member. We want to change the pervasive perception of being a member of the Order as a fatality inherent to the profession, and ensure that collectively we can transform our class into a more solidary, strong and cohesive body.

B. COMPANY
Political Action. Defend the Profession.
The challenges of the profession are not compatible with the passive and/or merely reactive posture that has led to a degradation of the activity and that is limited to initiatives that only find an audience among their peers.
We want an Order of Action, which leads and sets the political agenda and the discussion of fundamental themes for the profession. An Order that values the role of the Architect in the Society. An active and rigorous Order, which guarantees the rights and professional dignity of its members, which creates mechanisms to combat unfair competition in a deregulated market.

C. ARCHITECTURE
Medium-term dynamic strategy.
The Ordem dos Arquitetos must outline and implement a medium and long-term strategy for our sector, which guarantees the economic viability of our profession and guides internationalization efforts, defining a Direction and a Horizon for Architects and for Architecture Portuguese. We can no longer waste resources on case-by-case, discontinued, short-term initiatives, which are limited to observing an increasingly unfavorable reality for the profession. It is the duty of the Order to be a catalyst for change, and to promote it.

DO, CHANGE, APPROACH
What distinguishes us is the ability to make, execute, deliver on our promises and goals.
Ideas and programs that are not substantiated in concrete, sustainable and implemented actions will be empty words.
The performance and experience of this Candidacy is a guarantee that this program is effectively a commitment that will lead us to A COURSE of change, to A stronger ORDER, at the service of all Architects.

We are a work and service team.
The Order will have to take a qualitative leap in order to reach the level of what the profession of Architect demands in our country, in the present and in the near future.
Fighting the opacity of procedures, technocracy and bureaucracy, influence traffic and wild economic competition, without values and without rules.
We know that it will be increasingly difficult to find solutions that protect us as professionals.
