The “Laranja XXI” conference, which will bring together national and foreign experts in the field of citrus, on February 17th, a “Regional Competition of Cocktails“, along the 18th, or the “Marcha dos Namorados”, on the 19th, are some of the proposals of the 1st exhibition “Silves Capital da Laranja”, which aims to highlight and discuss the citrus industry in this county, from the 17th to the 19th of February , in Fissul.
In addition to these initiatives, there will also be music, with fado by Argentina Freire, on the 17th, at 21:00 pm, and with Deolinda, on the 18th, at 21:30 pm. Street entertainment will also be «constant», with the municipality's School Groups participating with musical moments, promoted by students and teachers.
The “Laranja XXI” conference will address topics such as “funding under the PDR2020”, “the quality of citrus fruits in the Algarve: threats, challenges and opportunities” or “the production of citrus fruits in organic mode in Andalusia”.
This initiative will last all day and ends with a round table, at 16:30 pm, for a debate on the “production, marketing and distribution of citrus fruits in the Algarve”.
Producers and companies involved in the marketing of machinery and plant protection products will also have the opportunity at this event to make their work known and discuss their problems.
The winners of the “Regional Cocktail Competition”, organized by the Bartenders Association of the Algarve, will, in turn, win the “Silves Capital da Laranja” trophy.
Gastronomy will also be present, for example, with a showcooking, on February 19, at 15:30 pm, in charge of the Head Luis Santos, and with the presence of some restaurants, which will bring the flavors and aromas of oranges and other citrus fruits to visitors.
«With this event, we once again underline a position regarding the production of citrus fruits and the affirmation of this brand that seems to us to be decisive: in Silves, oranges and other citrus fruits are a symbol of quality», considers Rosa Palma, president of the municipality of Silvense , who is the organizer of this event.
"In addition, we give citrus growers a space to reach various audiences and, above all, to be able to discuss, share and analyze the problems that affect this sector and which deserve particular attention in our municipality and to which we want to give visibility and notoriety" , concludes.
This event has the partnership of the Algarve Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries, the University of Algarve, the Algarve Tourism Region, the Silves School Group and the Silves-Sul School Group.
