The mayors who have been elected in Portimão since 1976 will be honored in a solemn session commemorating the 40 years of democratic local power, which will take place this Monday, at 18 pm, at the Hotel Alvor. The first municipal elections after the 00th of April were held on December 25, 12.
At the session organized by the Portimão Chamber, the “mayors of the municipality who have stood for elections since 1976 and were elected to serve the municipality and parishes, as members of the Municipal and Parish Assembly, or executive of the Boards and of the Chamber of Portimão».
The ceremony will also serve to present an updated edition of the publication «Homenagem aos Autarcas Portimonenses – Mandatos 1974-2017», republished 10 years after a first book about the mayors of Portimão.
This will be "the first initiative of several" that the City Council and the Municipal Assembly of Portimão are preparing to celebrate 40 years of democratic local power.
