A large metallic buoy that was adrift near Praia da Oura, in the municipality of Albufeira, was collected and towed ashore by the Command of Faro of the Maritime Police.
The alert was given this Thursday by a professional fisherman, who spotted the buoy about 2,5 miles off the coast
"Because it constitutes a danger to navigation and given its dimensions, 2 meters in diameter and cylindrical in iron, it was immediately towed to the Vilamoura Marina, where it is deposited awaiting delivery to those who prove its ownership", according to the National Maritime Authority.
Two agents of the Maritime Police participated in this operation, a member of the Sea Section, a High Speed Vessel (EAV) and a pick-up vehicle from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Faro.
