The alert, explains the Portuguese Navy, was given "by the vessel's master", and the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon) placed the Guidance Center for Urgent Patients at Sea (CODU-Mar) in contact with the ship.

For the rescue, the lifeboat SR-37 was sent from the lifeboat station in Olhão, which carried out the rescue at 18:36 pm and headed to the port of Olhão, where it docked safely at 18:48 pm.

The individual was then transported to the Hospital of Faro already in a stable situation.
