The concert cycle called “Lyrical White Christmas Medley”, whose special guest is the most famous Portuguese tenor today – Carlos Guilherme –, is the proposal of the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, for the next long weekend, in Lagoa, Monchique and Alcoutim.
On Friday, the 9th, at 21:30 pm, the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa receives this concert that marks the return of Carlos Guilherme to a city where he already lived, in the late 70s of the last century, after having returned from Mozambique. In Lagoa, Carlos Guilherme, before resuming his career in music, was a Mathematics teacher and certainly many of his former students will be among the audience.
But the cycle "Lyrical White Christmas Medley" continues on Saturday 10th, also at 21 pm, until the Guadiana space in Alcoutim, ending on Sunday, the 11th, at 21 pm, with the final concert at Monchique Mother Church.
The Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve and its guest Carlos Guilherme thus present the magic of great Christmas music to all audiences, but interpreted in a different way, bringing together two musical genres that, apparently, it would never be possible to cross.
To complement the repertoire, themes from the North American songbook will be presented, real world works that transport the audience to a place where time and magic intersect, giving rise to a concert that spans generations.
The cycle “Lyrical White Christmas Medley” takes place within the scope of the program “365 Algarve”.
In Lagoa, tickets for the concert cost 8 euros and can be purchased at the Convento de S. José (office hours) or on the internet, on the Ticketline website. In Alcoutim and Monchique, concerts are free, although limited to the size of the spaces.
