Today, 20 December, 21 food baskets were distributed to needy elderly people in the municipality of Lagoa, through the «Tempo para Dar» project of the Coração Delta Association.
The elderly covered «usually do not benefit from this type of support», explains the Câmara de Lagoa, which collaborated with this project.
“In a society that is increasingly aging and focused on the immediate, the senior population, unable to keep up with the changes in daily life as quickly as young people, is pushed aside and the problem of loneliness deepens every day. Faced with this reality and with the objective of overcoming this loneliness, the Coração Delta Association felt the duty to find solutions to minimize this problem», explains the Lagoon municipality.
Francisco Martins, Mayor of Lagoa, says that «this type of attitude of the Portuguese company Cafés Delta shows the humanist sense of Comendador Nabeiro», thanking «once again for choosing Lagoa to fulfill a tradition and, thus, allow a Christmas more in solidarity with those who need it most».
