MRCC LisbonThe sailboat “Tattyanna”, of British nationality, with two people on board, which since yesterday had been adrift without an engine, 17 miles northwest of Cabo de S. Vicente, ended up being towed to the port of Portimão.

The alert was given at 10:00 am on 31 October by the merchant ship "Wes Finja", which was close to the sailboat.

«Due to not being in an imminent danger situation, the owner of the sailboat “Tattyanna” assessed the situation for a few hours, having subsequently hired the tugboat “Svitzer Funchal” to provide the towing service», explains the Navy on its page on the Internet.

However, later, «due to service requirements», the tugboat «Svitzer Funchal» ended its towing operation, having been replaced by the «Diligente», lifeboat of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos, sent by the Captain of Porto of Lagos.

The sailboat “Tattyanna” was then towed by the ESV “Diligente” to the port of Portimão, where it docked safely this Tuesday, November 1st, at 11:19 am.

The support operation was the responsibility of the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), in conjunction with the Captain of Porto de Lagos.
