sergio_godinhoSérgio Godinho is “very expectant” about the meeting that will take place today, at 21 pm, between his music, the arrangements of pianist Filipe Raposo and the Ensemble de Flautas de Loulé, on the stage of the Cine-Teatro Louletano.

Sérgio Godinho, who spoke to Sul Informação (Musicália), says that it is “an awaited return to the Cine-Teatro Louletano”. His last presence in Loulé had been at the city library, promoting his book of stories, with a “promised return when my first novel comes out next year”.

In musical terms, this is not a show that is born from scratch. “Part of the challenge already existed in practice, I've done some concerts with Filipe Raposo, just voice and piano, it's just another attitude towards my songs and necessarily a reinvention, because it takes on the songs in such a radically different way, although they are the same”.

Filipe Raposo, resident pianist at the Cinemateca Portuguesa, was responsible for making the necessary arrangements for Sérgio Godinho's songs and adapting them to the baroque characteristics of the recorders. “Filipe Raposo made the arrangement for the flutes, he's already been working with them, he's very happy, because, as a musician and arranger, it's a very exciting challenge”.

Until the rehearsals at the Cine-Teatro, the final result was unknown to the singer-songwriter, but the confidence he has in Filipe Raposo's work leaves him at peace, highlighting the focus on young people and on the local component of this meeting.

“Here, the biggest challenge was to cross what had already been done with forces of the local culture, in this case the Ensemble de Flautas de Loulé. I will have young people from the Conservatory interacting with me, not all of them, but at least half of the songs”.

Flutes are nothing new in Sérgio Godinho's repertoire (Canto da Boca and Pre-histories), but they are not a very used instrument. The musician considers, however, that his songs "are very classic holding multiple readings and multiple faces, they are easily transformable”.

Tickets for this unprecedented concert cost 12 euros, are almost sold out and can be purchased at the Cine-Teatro Louletano box office or here
