john paulo januaryThe Igreja Matriz in Boliqueime hosts the next concert of the Algarve Organ Festival, on Friday, November 4th, at 21 pm, with the participation of organist João Paulo Janeiro.

The musician divides his activity between research, concerts, recordings and teaching. In Lisbon, he studied harpsichord, organ, clavichord and historical musicology. He is founder and director of several ensembles and festivals. He collaborated with Portuguese and foreign orchestras and recorded several CDs on historical organs and keyboard instruments.

He participated in several music festivals in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, as a soloist or musical director. Conducted the Inventory of Historical Organs of Alentejo and coordinated restoration processes.

He teaches harpsichord, chamber music and bass continuo and classes in historical interpretation at ESART-Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco and organ at the Escola de Música Nossa Senhora do Cabo.

João Paulo Janeiro's concert program has as its motto “Dance as a matrix in the organ repertoire”.

According to Associação Música XXI, which promotes the festival, “it proposes a chronological visit to some of the positive contaminations of dance that we find in the repertoires for keyboard, in particular, the organ. On this visit, you will visit various schools, different eras and also various rhythmic dance typologies».

The next concert at the Igreja Matriz in Boliqueime takes place on November 18, at 21 pm, with organist Nuno Alexandrino.

O Algarve Organ Festival is organized by Associação Cultural Música XXI. It has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Tavira and Portimão, with support for the dissemination of the Algarve Tourism Region and with communication partners Antena 2, Sul Informação and FM Street.
