Guide to Geology and Urban Paleontology of FaroThe third Algarve's Urban Geology and Paleontology Guide, this time dedicated to the city of Faro, will be launched this Tuesday, the 22nd, at 17:30 pm, at the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve, in the Algarve capital.

The launch of this book, by Luís Azevedo Rodrigues and Margarida Agostinho, is part of the Science and Technology Week promoted by the CCV of Faro, which runs from the 21st to the 27th of November.

The presentation will be attended by the authors and also by Cristina Veiga-Pires, director of the CCV of Faro, and will be in charge of João Fernandes, vice-president of the Algarve Tourism Region.

This is the last in a series of three guides published in 2016, about the three Algarve cities with Ciência Viva Centers – Faro, Lagos e Tavira.

Upon launch of the first guide, Luís Azevedo Rodrigues, who is the current director of the CCV de Lagos, PhD in Paleontology, told the Sul Informação that the idea of making these pocket books arose when he was coordinator of the three Ciência Viva Centers in the Algarve, in an «attempt to coordinate his intervention and unite them in a common project». The idea “was to create a roadmap used by the CCV to publicize the city, but from a geological and paleontological point of view”.

"These books, which were published in Portuguese and English, make a survey of rocks and fossils that are present in them, in an urban context," added the author, about the launch of the Tavira Guide.
