Bring together football fans, but also athletics, in a solidarity event, offering them a shirt of the respective club to run with it on. This is the aim of the “Adept's Race”, an event that will take place in Faro, on the 28th of January, at 17 pm, as part of the program of activities for the «Final Four» of the CTT Cup, to be played at the Estádio Algarve.

Presented to the public today, at a press conference, this initiative intends, in the words of Pedro Proença, president of the League of Clubs, to be «an aggregating spectacle».

That is: having participants from various clubs in a “social responsibility policy”. In this sense, of the 2 euros cost of registration for this competition, half will revert to Refúgio Aboim Ascensão, according to information provided by the former referee.

proenseAs for the logistics of the race, there will be two modalities: a race, with a 10-kilometer course, and a walk, which will have 5 kilometers. All occurrences of this «Adept's Race» will be closely followed by the PSP, which hopes to «welcome a lot of people» in the streets of Faro, according to the words of the PSP district commander Ricardo Abreu Matos also present at the press conference.

For the winners of this «Adept's Race» the prize will be… tickets to watch the CTT Cup final, which takes place on the following day: 29 January.

The fact that this initiative takes place during the low season is, for Rogério Bacalhau, mayor of Faro, “an added value”, which can combat seasonality. Indeed, the mayor said he hopes to receive several visitors, both Portuguese and foreigners for this «Final Four», which will take place between 25 and 29 January.

Without wanting to lift the veil, Pedro Proença revealed another initiative to take place within the scope of the "Final Four", in addition to some already known, as a Fan zone em Faro or activities in the Municipal Park in Loulé: a game of legends, next to the Doca de Faro.

"We are going to have a mini-stadium and current national football legends will be invited, in a game that everyone can watch for free," he explained. As for names that have already been confirmed… «they will be given at another time of presentation», added Pedro Proença.

Even so, the president of the League of Clubs gave a certainty at this press conference: this new format in the «Final Four» of the CTT Cup, which encompasses not only the game but also a series of activities, will not be held in the Algarve next year.

Registration for this Fan Race is now open, and you only need to be over 18 years old to do so, and it can be done. here
