The councilors of the PSD of the Municipality of Tavira will propose, at the next meeting of the municipal executive, that all meetings of the Municipality become public, in order to «deepen the civic participation of citizens, making the activity of the municipal executive of Tavira more transparent».
Currently, only the last meeting of each month is public and, for PSD Tavira, «the possibility of expanding the participation of citizens in the city council's executive meetings will boost more regular presence, better knowledge and greater possibility of intervention in the matters that govern the life of the Municipality».
This proposal takes into account, according to the PSD, that "current citizen participation rates are very low" and social democrats consider it "essential to promote citizen participation in decision-making by local authorities."
