Loulé City Council - CMLoulé - MiraThe Municipality of Loulé will sign a twinning charter with the French Municipality of Créteil next Thursday, October 6th, at 18 pm, at the Salão Nobre of the Paços do Concelho de Loulé.

“Dialogue, exchange of experiences and implementation of joint actions capable of mutually enriching Loulé and Créteil in all the relevant domains of their competences are the great matrices of this agreement”, says the Loulé municipality.

In this sense, an activity plan inherent to this twinning program will be defined, on a biennial basis, so that activities are developed in France and Portugal.

The organization of a Biennial of Economic and Touristic Activities (displays and promotion of regional products, leisure spaces and tourism), the organization of a conference and exhibition dedicated to the European theme of common interest or the exchange of students, professors, citizens of associative, cultural and sporting movements are some of the planned actions.

Signing the twinning agreement includes a five-day visit to Loulé. The French delegation, led by the head of the Municipality of Créteil Laurent Cathala, arrives in Loulé on the 5th.

During the morning of the 6th, a visit to the center of Vilamoura, Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura, Riding Center and golf courses is planned. Then there is a visit to two more emblematic resorts in the Municipality of Loulé: Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago.

At 18 pm, in the Hall of the Town Hall, the most important moment of this visit takes place – the signing of the oath of twinning, followed by a “Porto de Honra” in the Municipal Market, open to the public.

On Friday, the 7th, the two delegations will visit the Hospital de Loulé, then head for the interior of the municipality, passing through the villages of Querença and Alte.

Saturday morning, the 8th, will be filled with a debate between the Mayor of Loulé, Vítor Aleixo, and the Mayor of Créteil, Laurent Cathala, moderated by the President of the Municipal Assembly, Adriano Pimpão.

This initiative takes place from 10:00 am, in the Municipal Assembly Room, and will also include the participation of commercial and business associations in the Algarve, as well as several businessmen from the Municipality of Loulé, in addition to the participation of school directors and club and association directors .

The objective of the debate will be to reflect on the advantages for the two municipalities of establishing cooperative relationships through the twinning process.

«At a time when more and more French people are looking to Loulé and the Algarve as a holiday destination, for investments or for the purchase of second homes, this twinning takes on even greater importance», concludes the Câmara de Loulé.

 

Where is Créteil?

Créteil is a French commune located on the outskirts of Paris, southwest of the capital in the Val-de-Marne department, in the Île-de-France region, with about 89 inhabitants.
