Lagoon City of WineLagoa, which is the «City of Wine 2016», an award given by the AMPV – Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities, will commemorate the «European Day of Wine Tourism» on the 12th of November, in the afternoon, with a magusto, wine tasting wines and fado at Quinta dos Vales.

The musical performance will be by the fado singer Raquel Peters. This «European Day of Wine Tourism» was created in 2009 by RECEVIN – European Network of Wine Cities, which has the support of national associations of wine cities in the countries that comprise it, to promote wine tourism and the various routes that exist in Europe , emphasizing the culture and tradition of the land, together with the production of wine.

This year, the celebrations at the national level “focus on moderate consumption of wine, calling for responsible consumption, in cooperation with the program Wine in moderation, a non-profit association founded in 2011 by the European wine sector that aims to ensure responsible and moderate standards of wine consumption, as a social and cultural norm», says Câmara de Lagoa.

These commemorations are the result of the partnership between the municipality of Lagos and AMPV, with the collaboration of Quinta dos Vales.

On the 18th and 19th of November, the «I Jornadas do Enoturismo de Lagoa» will take place, in which the links between the wine sector and the tourism sector will be discussed. There will also be an "evaluation of the contribution of wine tourism as a complement to the region's offer", with "the presentation of good practices and success stories". Finally, «opportunities for the sector will be addressed», says the Chamber of Lagoa.

The technical sessions will be accompanied by visits to wineries and farms of producers in the Algarve region with direct observation of what is done in terms of quality production, which characterizes Algarve wines.

These «I Jornadas do Enoturismo de Lagoa» are jointly organized by the City Council, the Association of Portuguese Wine Municipalities and the Association of Wine Routes in Portugal, with the support of Algarve Tourism, Algarve Wine Commission and International Association for Development and Promotion of Wine Tourism.
