Castro Marim SaltThe Municipality of Castro Marim will promote the «Best Salt in the World» on the 27th of October, at the National Festival of Gastronomy, which takes place in Santarém.

Participation in the event, which celebrates the flavors of tradition and culinary innovation, aims to «promote the «Best Salt in the World», gain more space in the market and preserve the excellence of the product, important for the local economy and its producers », says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

During the day, samples of salt and fleur de sel will be distributed to the public and the offer of a Kit promotional to chefs. This promotional action also includes livecooking in charge of the chefs of the «À Terra» restaurants, the Boutique Hotel Praia Verde, and the «Bar Guarita Terrace», with the use of traditional salt and fleur de sel.

«The entertainment continues with a display of the most emblematic gastronomic, cultural and tourist products in the county, information about the producers and an enogastronomic tasting», explains the Castro Marine municipality.

«The Castro Marim salt is manually extracted and dried in the sun in the middle of the Sapal Nature Reserve, which allows its naturally white color and the retention of microelements from marine life, unlike industrial salt, which is extracted using mechanical and purified with industrial systems and products», explains the Chamber of Castro Marim.

This 36th National Festival of Gastronomy is organized by the Municipal Company Viver Santarém in partnership with the Ministry of the Sea and the Secretary of State for Fisheries. For more information click here.
