Avenida das Comunidade Lusíadas or V3The Portimão City Council awarded a new contract to continue the intervention that has been carried out in the last two years on Avenida das Comunidade Lusíadas, commonly known as V3, and which connects Vau to Alvor.

The section to intervene is located between the Rotunda “da Fonte” and the Rotunda Simon Bolivar, with the contract budgeted at around 272 thousand euros.

The works, which have an estimated period of 120 days, will focus mainly on the sidewalks, which will be recovered, building along them a lane adapted for people with reduced mobility, as well as the planting of alignment trees, in replacement of previously existing palm trees that were decimated by the red beetle plague.

Finally, the three pedestrian crossings existing along the road will be elevated, in order to reduce traffic speed and facilitate pedestrian crossing.

The Municipality of Portimão stresses that this project is financed by funds from the Tourism Funds, in exchange for the existence of a Casino in Praia da Rocha.
