WEEK_EUROPEAN_SPORTS_POSTERThe night-race march “Beactive”, scheduled for September 30, at 21 pm, with a meeting point in Praça da República, will mark the European Week of Sports in Tavira.

The Chamber of Tavira explains that this week is an «initiative of the European Commission and was created with the aim of combating physical inactivity, motivating its practice in different contexts, namely, at school, in the workplace, outdoors and in sports clubs and gyms».

For the municipality, "valuing sport in all educational environments contributes to laying the foundations for the development of healthy lifestyle habits that can last into adulthood."

“Sport has a universal appeal and is beneficial for both physical and mental well-being. Physical activities can play an important role in promoting social cohesion by integrating minority and marginalized groups. People, communities and decision-makers must promote the practice of physical exercise in order to build an active and healthy society», concludes the Câmara de Tavira.
