patricia_amado_mestre_micf_premio_order_engenheiros_2016Patrícia Amado, Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT) of the University of Algarve, was distinguished with the “Sociedade Farmacêutica Lusitana” award from the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos, on the occasion of the Pharmaceutical Day, celebrated on 26 September.

The “Sociedade Farmacêutica Lusitana” Award is a distinction given to young pharmacists who have recently completed their academic training with the highest ratings, from the Universities that offer the integrated master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The solemn session of the Pharmacist's Day took place at Teatro Thalia, in Lisbon, and was presided over by Adalberto Campos Fernandes, Minister of Health. Ana Paula Martins, president of the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos, was also present.

Patrícia Amado completed her Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2015 with a final grade of 17 points. In October 2015, he defended the dissertation entitled “Methodologies for the synthesis of tetraoxanes with potential use in medicinal chemistry”.

Throughout her academic career, she was twice distinguished with the mention “Student of Excellence at FCT – Faculty of Science and Technology” by UAlg. This mention is intended to highlight the students who managed, at the same time, a good academic performance and a responsible, proactive social conduct, based on citizenship values.

Currently, Patrícia Amado is technical director at Farmácia Brito, in Olhão. However, he intends to devote himself to scientific research in the area of ​​Medicinal Chemistry, having recently applied for a doctoral fellowship by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia.

The FCT management welcomes this distinction. “The pharmacist Patrícia Amado represents well the quality of the integrated master's course in Pharmaceutical Sciences, taught at the University of Algarve”.
