The 10 most exclusive beaches in the Algarve, that is, those aimed at those who «do not want to share their holidays with thousands of other bathers», were chosen by Momondo travel and hotel search engine.
In this top10, there are beaches both in the Sotavento and the Barlavento Algarvio. Get to know them in this list:
Barreta Beach/Deserted Island – Faro
located at Faro, «this beach is one of the most beautiful deserted beaches in the Algarve region», says Momondo. «There are 11 kilometers of peace on this island, where you can walk without tripping over other people's hats. The boat picks up at the Porta Nova pier and the crossing to Ilha Deserta takes about 40 minutes», he adds.
Albandeira Beach – Lagoa
In Lagoa, the website and search engine Momondo chose Praia da Albandeira because of “its crystalline waters, almost paradisiacal and little frequented”. The only problem could be “the most difficult access”, being necessary “to travel an almost unrecognizable narrow road until reaching the blessed paradise”, he concludes.
São Rafael Beach – Albufeira
Despite being «close to the very busy and tourist area of Albufeira», Praia de São Rafael was also chosen by Momondo. The website refers to it as «the balm for those looking for the modesty of the best beaches in the Algarve. Surrounded by limestone cliffs in strong tones and strong vegetation to match, this beach offers an unforgettable view from the top of the rocks to the warm foot on the sand».
Amado Beach – Aljezur
This beach is located in the Algarve council of Aljezur, and is already part of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina. «Although it receives some visits throughout the year, its secluded and quiet sand remains intact. Murrão Beach – Vila do Bispo

Arrifes Beach – Albufeira
Momondo also chose Praia dos Arrifes, in Albufeira, as one of the ten most exclusive in the Algarve.
«This beach is considered one of the best beaches in the Algarve due to its natural beauty, hidden from most tourists. Small and familiar, Praia dos Arrifes consists of a small cove between cliffs, where we can see natural wells and several arches in the rocks, even discovering some caves in the cliff», says the website.
Cacela Velha Beach – Vila Real Santo António
«Best known as Praia da Fábrica, this beach has a large sand with clear, warm water, maintaining a wild beauty with flora and fauna to match. Those who want to access this beach have two options: either choose to walk from Manta Rota beach (at low tide), or go by boat to the other shore», explains Momondo.
Zavial Beach – Vila do Bispo
Located in Vila do Bispo, this beach is “mainly known for its long, inviting waves for surfing and all kinds of water sports. On the cliff, a short distance away, are the Ruins of the Forte and the Zavial Battery, dating from the XNUMXth century».
Vale dos Homens Beach – Aljezur
«The area of Aljezur is characterized by little frequented and almost deserted beaches and the beach of Vale dos Homens is no different. Not very easy to access, the beach is accessed through a winding descent on wooden stairs, with 285 steps, taking us to a sandy beach surrounded by cliffs, which helps to shelter us from the wind. At low tide, you can see species such as sea bream, sea bass, mussels or even starfish», says Momondo.
Barrinha Beach – Faro, elder
«This is one of the best beaches in the Algarve, and also one of the most deserted, possibly due to its difficult access.
