official marizaThe fado singer Mariza and guitarist Pedro Jóia are two of the artists who will be present at the “Festival Lucía”, which honors guitarist and composer Paco de Lucía. The event is scheduled for August 20, at 22 pm, at Revelim de Santo António, in Castro Marim.

In addition to Mariza and Pedro Jóia, who is one of the disciples of the Spanish composer, they make up the tribute group João Frade, on accordion, and Norton Daiello, on double bass.

The deputy mayor of Castro Marim Filomena Sintra says that this event "is a strategy of territorial enhancement and a tribute to its people."

Although this is the first edition of “Festival Lucía”, the guitarist, whose mother was born in Monte Francisco, in the municipality of Castro Marim, has already been honored on other occasions.

Last year, when a decade marked the only concert by Paco de Lucía in his mother's land, the same Revelim de Santo António was the stage for the concert “La Herencia by Paco de Lucía”. This show will now be released on CD and DVD, on August 19, at 19 pm, at Praia Verde Boutique Hotel, in an event where Mariza and Pedro Jóia will be present. The purchase of the CD or DVD entitles you to free entry to the “Festival Lucía”.

Tickets cost 8 euros, for the Revelim de Santo António amphitheater, and 5 euros for the upper stands to be installed in the enclosure.

The Chamber of Castro Marim reveals that this initiative is to continue and has already been confirmed for next year's edition: Javier Limón, who was producer of several Paco de Lucía records.

This is an initiative organized by the Castro Marim City Council, with the support of the Eurocity of Guadiana and the Odiana Association, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, the Algarve Tourism Region and the Junta de Andalucia, with the production of Zerkalo.
