tavira accidentOne dead and one wounded was the result of a collision that took place yesterday, at around 20:20, between a light goods vehicle and a truck, on the EN270, the road that connects the EN125, in the Tavira area, to Via do Infante.

The accident forced the authorities to cut this road, which was only reopened at dawn.

To what Sul Informação he found out, the mortal victim was the driver of the light goods vehicle, which had its front completely destroyed. The driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries.

According to Jornal do Algarve, the deadly victim was Paulo Casimiro, 33, manager of the company Centrauto, who lived in Olhão.

The presumable cause of the accident was a badly calculated overtaking, which caused the passenger car to collide head-on with the truck.

Source of the District Relief Operational Command of Faro told the Sul Informação that, at the site, there were 23 workers, supported by nine vehicles, from the Municipal Fire Departments of Tavira, INEM, GNR and the Rotas do Algarve Litoral concessionaire.
