Beach rescueBad dispositions at sea, congestion, the beginnings of sunstroke and some stings by spiderfish are the majority of incidents with bathers registered this summer on the beaches of the municipality of Faro, according to the Rescue Report of the Rescue Institute for Castaways.

"Fortunately, none of the occurrences has assumed greater seriousness, as the victims have been promptly assisted by rescue professionals and accompanied to the clinic and health units in the county, whenever this proved necessary", says the City Council, in press release.

Taking into account the expected heat in the last week of July, SUESTE – Humanitarian Association of Lifeguards of Faro, the entity that guarantees surveillance on Faro beaches, calls for the need for bathers to "always respect the indications of lifeguards, signs and flags".

During the bathing season, which ends on September 30, the City Council of Faro ensures a surveillance service at Praia de Faro, between 9:30 am and 19:30 pm, every day. This is ensured by the presence of lifeguards distributed over three posts.

In Ilha da Culatra, there is one lifeguard available during the week and two at the weekend.
