Manuel HeitorThe Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education speaks this Friday, July 8th, at 18 pm, at the closing session of the IX Portuguese Congress of Sociology “Portugal territory of territories”, organized by the Portuguese Association of Sociology and which is taking place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve.

Minister Manuel Heitor will address critical aspects that currently affect Portuguese and European society and clearly show the need to strengthen the work of sociologists, as well as higher education and research in sociology.

In this context, the minister's speech will focus on the complexity of the innovation processes that emerge and that favor societies that are organized around a culture of dialogue associated with evaluation and criticism routines.

Thus, it will address the challenges for the adoption of public participation routines, including in scientific activity, but also the critical issues that today require a social perspective and a clear rejection of everyone, such as the academic practice that still persists in the context of teaching superior in Portugal.

The government official will refer to the great challenges for Portugal at the European level, including the current migratory movements to and within Europe, and the guarantee of new scientific and higher education policy actions that enshrine the effective integration of migrants in the Europe of knowledge.
