According to the Association of Friends of Cortelha, «all those who visit Cortelha during the first weekend of August will have the opportunity to taste traditional dishes of the Algarve cuisine, such as maize porridge, rooster with chickpeas, wild boar stew, pig's ear, chorizo sausage, arbutus brandy, among many others».

The event starts at 18:00 on Saturday, with the opening of Tasquinhas, where you can enjoy these delicacies. Music is also one of the highlights of the party and at 19 pm the mountain dance begins with Eulália Nunes.

At 21 pm, the 00th edition of the Serra do Caldeirão Folklore Festival begins, which, according to the organization, «has become one of the most important ethnographic events in the Algarve interior».

The festival once again brings folklore groups from different geographical and cultural origins to Cortelha, «which allow visitors to learn about customs and traditions from all over the world».

On Sunday, the 7th, the Tasquinhas open again at 18:00 pm and, at 19:00 pm, Sandrine starts the mountain dance. “Veredas da Memória”, a Portuguese traditional music group from São Brás de Alportel, is also part of the Manjares Serranos 2016 poster, with performance scheduled for 21 pm.

The aim is to revive and remember traditional flavours, as well as making known the traditional dances and customs of other regions».

The Manjares Serranos and the Folklore Festival have free entry and are supported by the Municipality of Loulé, the Parish Council of Salir, the Algarve Tourism Region, INATEL, Albombas and the Integrated Basic School Prof. Sebastião Teixeira – Salir.
