The competition is promoted by the world record holder for Kitesurfing, Francisco Lufinha, in partnership with the local authority, and takes place between 13:00 pm on Saturday (23rd) and 01:00 am on Sunday (24th) at Meia Praia (non-concessioned area to the east of the restaurant Bahia).

According to the Câmara de Lagos, «this is the only event in the world that puts several teams competing with each other in relays, for 12 hours straight and promoting / using various water sports (namely: kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand up paddle and sailing light)'.

The race will be played on a route between two buoys installed in Meia Praia and the team with the most laps in the 12 hours of the competition will be the winner.

The municipality reveals that “a maximum of 20 teams are expected to participate, with 3 to 4 players each. During the competition there will be animations, ambient music and a lounge on the beach with free access to the public».

The promoter of this initiative, Francisco Lufinha, beat, in July 2015, the World Record for the “Greatest Non-stop Kitesurf Trip”, in a crossing of about 1000 km between Lisbon and Madeira.
