campus portimão university of the AlgarveO Campus of Portimão from the University of Algarve (UAlg) will have a new Professional Higher Technical Course (TeSP) in Geographic Information Systems.

According to the University of Algarve, «this new course aims to train professionals who manage geographic information, to support projects in the areas of environment, tourism, agriculture and land use planning».

UAlg explains that «professionals will be able to acquire geographic information from various technologies, including GPS, satellite images, aerial photography obtained by drones or planes, to edit, update and produce cartography and spatial databases and create pages Website for the dissemination of geographic information'.

This new formation in the Campus de Portimão joins the already existing degrees in Management and Tourism and the TeSP in Tourism Animation Management.

The TeSPs are post-secondary higher education courses, which lead to a professional qualification at level 5 of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning.

In the 2016/17 academic year, the University of Algarve will make available 14 TeSP. These courses last for four academic semesters and 120 credits (ECTS) and lead to a Higher Professional Technician diploma.

The annual fee is €588,93 and can be paid in eight monthly installments. Applications online run from July 1st to August 12th (1st phase) and from September 19th to 23rd (2nd phase).
