john virginia 2The Algarve's João Virgínia is among the four substitute players on the National Football Team that will compete in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. The goalkeeper, who plays for Arsenal, could be called up in the event of an injury to one of the 18 players selected by Rui Jorge.

In addition to João Virgínia, Leandro Silva (Paços de Ferreira), Ivo Rodrigues (Arouca and Frederico Venâncio (V. Setúbal) are on prevention.
