Sea of ​​UAlgThe “Mar” of the University of Algarve will be shown at Oceans Business Week, an event that starts tomorrow and can be visited until Saturday, at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa. With its presence at this event, the Algarve university intends to affirm “its important status in the area of ​​the Sea”.

The Algarve academy will be represented not only by CRIA - Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division, but also by various research centers, «which will make known the potential that UAlg has at national and international level, being a true university of the sea and of the oceans, on a global scale”, according to the university.

Ocean Business Week has the participation of projects, startups, universities, public and private entities, national and international companies and entrepreneurs, covering large thematic areas - Ports, Sea and Security, Aquaculture, Research & Development, Maritime Industry, Mar 2020, Renewable Energies, Tourism and Culture.

«In an event that presents itself as strategic for debating the country's relationship with the Sea, the University of the Algarve will have a very strong presence, with great news in the field of marine research, with the presence of the Center for Marine Sciences ( CCMAR) and the Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIMA)», described UAlg, who had already bet at Blue Week, which FIL hosted in 2015.

Also highlighted will be the new degree course in Marine and Coastal Management, which will run in the 2016/2017 school year.

Since its inception, the University of Algarve has had a strong connection with the Sea, an element that continues to be one of its priority strategic areas. «It has undergraduate courses (2), masters and international masters (4), an Erasmus Mundus masters (2), a doctorate (2), and an Erasmus Mundus doctorate (2), linked to the theme of the sea and several bilateral agreements with the most important European universities. It also has three R&D centers based at UAlg, which have managed several research, knowledge transfer and extension projects», listed the institution.

«The Sea has been linked to the Institution since its creation and is felt as its heritage and standard. Both the Sea and its resources play a very important role in the various activities carried out here, from teaching to research, without forgetting cooperation and knowledge transfer», considered the dean of UAlg António Branco.

The Oceans Business Week is organized by the AIP Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of the Sea and is highly sponsored by the President of the Republic.
