Lagos Chamber_2The Municipality of Lagos wants to hire 44 new workers for the Municipality. The decision was approved at a Chamber meeting, on June 15th. In all, 15 competitions will be opened, for various functions, and the contracts to be established with employees will be for an indefinite period.

The competitions to be launched concern the filling of the following jobs: 1 Superior Technician (Social Service); 1 Superior Technician (Architecture); 1 Superior Technician (Landscape Architecture); 1 Senior Technician (Management); 6 Technical Assistants; 15 Operational Assistants (Educational Action Assistant); 4 Operational Assistants (Tourism Technical Assistant); 1 Operational Assistant (General Services Assistant); 1 Operational Assistant (Bricklayer); 4 Operational Assistants (hacker); 3 Operational Assistants (Plumber); 2 Operational Assistants (Public Transport Driver); 2 Operational Assistants (Gardener); 1 Operational Assistant (Clean Carpenter) and 1 Operational Assistant (Calcemaker).

According to the Câmara de Lagos, the opening of the 15 competitions is due to the “urgency verified in the recruitment of workers to ensure essential activities for the Municipality”.

The municipality adds that "the hiring of human resources is only possible since the municipality, within the scope of article 32 of the State Budget for 2016, has been complying with the debt limits, budget balance rules and other sustainability obligations of the respective local finances'.

The municipality of Lacobrigense explains that «theduring the recruitment phase in the context of public tender procedures, the order of priorities established by the General Labor Law in Public Functions must be respected, as a result of which jobs will have to be filled: in 1st place by the approved candidates placed in situation of requalification, in 2nd place and exhausted these, by the approved candidates holding a public employment relationship for an indefinite period and, finally, by the remaining candidates».

The measure is still subject to approval by the Municipal Assembly of Lagos.
