The VI edition of the Caracol Route is taking place until the end of May, in São Brás de Alportel, with the participation of 12 establishments.
Participants in the Caracol Route: Café Central Mesquita “Bolota” (on the site of the Mesquita); Snack-Bar Café “Correia” (in the village of São Romão); Snack-Bar “Manta” (in the place of Almargens); Bar da Sociedade Recreativa Alportelense and “Café Vitória” (in Aldeia de Alportel); Snack-Bar Pastry “Sol Dourado”; Café Restaurant “União”; Restaurant “Kebab and more”; Zé Oliveira Tavern; “Fun & Food” and Snack-Bar “Botinas” (in São Brás de Alportel) and “Casa da Barreira” (in the heart of the Historic Center of Vila).
May is the month to celebrate good weather, in conviviality, with the most traditional snack of the season: the caracolada! To enhance this ancient tradition, which is also increasingly a tourist reference in the county, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel once again challenged local establishments to join another edition of the “Rota do Caracol”, a initiative that challenges São Brasenses and visitors to taste this snack in the county's establishments.
Participating establishments unveil the results of their recipes at the table, secrets that have been handed down from generation to generation and hide many secrets in their pots… of cooking, ingredients, aromatic herbs and a whole treasure of knowledge and flavors worth tasting.
The Associação Jovem Sambrasense is also associated with tradition and promotes, this weekend of the 27th, 28th and 29th, the Festival do Caracol, a festival full of good snacks, music and lots of entertainment.
Taking place at the Polidesportivo Municipal, starting at 17 pm, this initiative has the support of the City Council, and features the following entertainment program: this Friday, the Festival opens its doors with the fair with Rúben Filipe and closes with DJ Rodrigo, on Saturday, Chunky Trio, Academia de Salsa do Algarve, Duo Valter and Canário and the renowned Rosinha take to the stage of the event.
The last day of the Festival, Sunday, begins with Fado, by Ondina Santos, Nuno Martins and Ricardo Martins, followed by a little dance to the sound of the duo Nestor and Nuno. The end of the night also features the performance of the artist Saúl, well known on the big screen.
