Hotel Guadiana_1Vila Real de Santo António City Council will sign the contract for the requalification of the Hotel Guadiana on May 10, next Tuesday, and take a decisive step in the process that will give new life to this centenary building, already classified as a property of municipal interest since 2010, which will become a charming hotel.

The ceremony, which follows the competition launched by the municipality of Vilarealense in March, is scheduled for 11:XNUMX am, at the Alfândega Building, next to the VRSA Marina.

The rehabilitation of this building and its transformation into a charming hotel, which will be leased to the South African chain Grand Africa, as Sul Informação announced first hand, more than a year ago.

In November, the mayor of VRSA Luís Gomes assured our newspaper that this process was "irreversible" and that a public tender had already been launched for the rehabilitation of the emblematic Hotel Guadiana.

According to Luís Gomes, «the operation is part of the strategy to recover the city's built heritage and the installation, in its Historic Center, of reference hotel units, fostering superior quality and cultural tourism».

«In the case of the Hotel Guadiana, we are going to re-qualify its interior and adapt it to the current characteristics of a five-star unit, putting an end to the scenario of degradation of this building, which is a calling card for the riverfront», continues Luís Gomes .

However, the Chamber launched a public auction for the lease and subsequent adaptation into a tourist unit of three more properties located in the historic center of the city.
