The concerts scheduled for tonight at the Algarve Academic Week, by Iris, Áurea and Hugo Tabaco, were canceled due to the rain that continues to fall heavily in Faro. The Organizing Committee of the Academic Week, after carrying out a reassessment, concluded that «at this moment, the safety conditions for the event are no longer guaranteed».
In statements to the Sul Informação, the president of Associação Académica Rodrigo Teixeira said that the organization "did its best effort, but the weather conditions were getting worse".
Rodrigo Teixeira also explained that "we had meetings with the Civil Protection yesterday and today, we followed the recommendations, but we were never told to cancel the event." However, the rain continued to fall heavily and "we cannot risk the safety of the public".
Although there are no concerts on the main stage, there is music playing in the electronic tent, which is covered, for those who have gone to the venue, or are still thinking of doing so.
After the cancellation of Dj Fresh's concert, COSA said that a new date would be set for the artist's performance, and the same could happen in relation to the remaining concerts tonight. «We are trying to find a solution», concluded Rodrigo Teixeira.
