coral_ossonoba_02The work «Cantata Mundi», with music by Rodrigo Leão, will be taken by Grupo Coral Ossónoba to Faro, Tavira and Boliqueime, on the 20,21th, 28st and XNUMXth of May, respectively.

The three choirs of the Farense institution – Pequenos Cantores d'Ossónoba, Ossónoba-Coro Juvenil and Coral Ossónoba – will be joined by the baritone Rui Baeta, a string quintet, percussion and pipe organ.

Em Faro, the show will take place at Igreja da Sé, in Vila-Adentro. In Tavira, the venue chosen for the concert was the Church of Santiago. In Boliqueime, the Main Church will host the event. The three shows, which start at 21:30 pm, are free to enter.

Rui BaetaThis piece brings together some of the best known works of the renowned Portuguese musician and composer Rodrigo Leão, «with a different, more classical and even solemn sound», following the arrangements and orchestration of Ana Margarida Encarnação and Rui Baeta, according to Grupo Coral Ossónoba.

The concerts “present a narrative that unites the two currents in Rodrigo Leão's compositions, one more profanely inspired and the other more spiritual”.

The Cantata Mundi was the result of an order from the Diocese of Santarém for the inauguration of the Diocesan Museum and was premiered on September 12, 2014 at the Cathedral of Santarém. This work is now being presented in the Algarve, as a result of the challenge launched by the two composers, born in Faro, to Grupo Coral Ossónoba.

The three concerts are supported by the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Algarve, from the Municipalities of Faro, Tavira and Loulé, from the Union of Parishes of Sé and São Pedro de Faro, of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Faro and the parishes of Tavira and Boliqueime.
