On June 10, the coast of the municipality of Odemira will host the “Brisas do Atlântico”, a multidisciplinary sporting event between Almograve and Zambujeira do Mar, which annually mobilizes more than a thousand participants in Cycle Tourism, Mountain Biking, Orienteering and Hiking in the leisure aspect and the modalities of Skating, Run & Bike and Athletics (Individual, Relay and Adapted Sports) in the competitive aspect.

According to the Municipality of Odemira, which organizes the event, it “has the mission of contributing to a better sport and for everyone”.

In 2016, there is a social cause in this initiative, associated with the commemoration of the International Year of Legumes, «in the sense of supporting projects that contemplate the creation of biological gardens or community intervention projects aimed at promoting healthy eating to be developed by associations and social institutions that carry out their work in the municipality of Odemira».

The race starts at Praia do Almograve and has a concentration scheduled for 8:00 am. The event will be open to all athletes, federated and non-federated and can participate in representation of collectives, popular organizations, sports groups of companies, schools and other bodies. There will be monetary prizes for the various levels in the competition modalities.

On the competitive side, the athletics, skating and run & bike events will have 21 km courses. On the leisure side, there will be several courses: Brisas do Atlântico Pedestrian Route (departure from Praia do Almograve and arrival at Cavaleiro with 8,6 km in floor). combination), Brisas do Atlântico Pedestrian Route (between Almograve and Longueira, 2,5 km), BTT Tour and Brisas do Atlântico cycle tourism (medium/easy difficulty 30 km for mountain biking and 35 km for cycle tourism, between Almograve and Zambujeira do Mar, S. Teotónio and Cavaleiro) and, for the first time, the Orienteering competition, Ori-Brisas (with an easy and medium difficulty route).

Registration costs 5 euros and is limited to 1700 athletes. These must be done by the 6th of June, in the Parish Councils of Boavista dos Pinheiros, Longueira/Almograve, S. Luís, S.
