joão soares_possession_2João Soares, general director of Dom Jose Beach Hotel, from Quarteira, is the new adviser and representative for the Algarve of the Portuguese Hotel Association (AHP).

AHP's new governing bodies for the 2016-2018 mandate took office on April 27, at the Altis Grand Hotel, in Lisbon, with the presence of Economy Minister Manuel Caldeira Cabral.

A AHP is the oldest and largest hotel association in Portugal, representing more than 60% of national hoteliers.

João Soares considers it to be “another challenge to make my contribution to Tourism and in particular to our region”.

Raul Martins, director of the Altis Hotels Group, who was elected president of AHP, maintains Cristina Siza Vieira in the presidency of the Association's Executive Committee, as well as several names that carry over from the previous direction led by Luís Veiga.

Vitor Paulo Paranhos Pereira, Vice-President of the General Assembly, took office, as President of the General Assembly, as well as Pedro José Granjo da Silva Pereira, Vice President of the General Assembly, as effective secretaries João Diniz and Helena Ferreira, and alternate secretary, Filipe França.

In addition to João Soares, representative in the Algarve, councilors Jorge Armindo de Carvalho Teixeira and Manuel Lourenço Marçal, Humberto da Costa Pavão (representative in the Azores), Mário Ferreira (representative in the North), Frederico Costa, Luís Alves de Sousa (representative in the North) took office in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region), Alexandre de Almeida, Alexandre Marto, Rodrigo Machaz, José Manuel Castelão Costa, Bernardo Trindade (representative in Madeira), Miguel Júdice, Nazir Sadru Din, José Carlos Pinto Coelho, Rita Rocha Brito (representative in Alentejo), Luís Veiga (representative in the Center), Luís Leote and Gonçalo Rebelo de Almeida.

As vice president, are Marta Bensaude Sousa Pires, Jorge Armindo, Frederico Costa and Bernardo Trindade.

Manuel Violas took office as chairman of the Supervisory Board, while Jorge Heleno is in the vice-chairmanship, having as effective members José Pedro Fezas Vital, Miguel Proença and José Seabra Marto, and as alternate members, João Tomás and Cristiana Isabel Martins Filipe.
